ABOUT NUTRI HUMUS

Nutri Humus is based in Cape Town, South Africa. The company operates world-class composting facilities. Established in 2018, Nutri Humus is an innovative and rapidly growing composting company.

Nutri means to feed or to nourish,

and Humus is the Latin word for “earth” or “ground”.

Nutri Humus literally means to feed the soil, or to nourish the earth.

Humus is the dark organic matter in soil, formed by the decomposition of plant and animal matter. Humus is rich in nutrients; it retains moisture, and it supports beneficial microorganisms. These qualities are vital for improving soil health and they are a vital resource to reduce fossil fuel-based fertilizers and plant pest controls, which have a detrimental impact on the environment.

Nutri Humus’ Vision is to re-establish Humus as the preferred material to be used for soil enrichment.

Humus provides beneficial qualities to growing media, and it provides nutrients and beneficial organisms that are essential to soil and plant health.

We care about the planet

When organic waste is sent to landfill, it can generate greenhouse gases and produce a liquid ooze called leachate. Leachate can contaminate water resources and greenhouse gasses contribute toward climate change. Processing organic waste by means of aerobic composting helps avoid these negative impacts. It even has a beneficial impact on the environment.

Meet The Team

Meet our vibrant and diverse Nutri Humus team

Ozair Engar is the Managing Director of Nutri Humus (Pty) Ltd and 100% shareholder. Ozair graduated at Cape Peninsula University of Technology in Construction Management.

He founded Nutri Humus in 2018 and he has been instrumental in bringing the business to where it is today. This experience has given Ozair key insights into all aspects of the business and he is able to give sound guidance to his management team and staff, based on the wealth of knowledge that he has accumulated both within the business itself and within the industry. Ozair is working to set new standards for organic waste processing, and the production and distribution of composting related products, using advanced composting technology, processes, and equipment.

Roger Jaques is the Operations Director at Nutri Humus. Roger has consulted on Sustainable Solutions for Organic Waste for nearly 20 years.

He co-founded a company called Full Cycle in 2005 and founded his own company Closing the Loop in 2009. In the years since, Roger has sold both domestic and industrial composting systems and designed and operated industrial-scale composting plants – including both facilities operated by Nutri Humus. Roger has consulted in Africa and abroad and he co-invented and holds a patent for an industrial-scale earthworm composting system. Roger has a Master of Landscape Architecture degree, a Bachelor of Science degree in Botany and Environmental & Geographic Science and a National Diploma in Horticulture.

Daniele Kriel is the Operations Manager at Nutri Humus. Her passion is to produce quality compost whilst preventing organic waste going to landfill and reducing carbon footprint.

After completing her oenology training at CIAT: Elsenburg in 1998 she started out her career as a winemaker and quickly realized the impact that good agricultural practices, such as composting, have on the sustainability of our soil. She completed her BTech: Agric degree in 2012 and changed her career path from wine to compost. With more than 10 years of experience in quality control of the composting process and specialized training in Austria from international known composting specialists, Compost System, she is aspiring to produce compost products to enrich our soils and ensure agricultural sustainability.
